Demolition has already
started. The front of the building has not been touched as of yet. The
Field House is already gone. The rear of the school is in the process
of being destroyed. Below are some of the pictures I took. I will
return to the site from time to time for more pictures.
Thomas Jefferson
Middle School
from Paul Fitzner I have received questions about
what is to become of the “Old” New TJBuilding
on Stadium Road.Originally the name
of the building was Thomas Jefferson Senior High School. With the
consolidation of TJ, Lincoln and Stephen F. Austin the building was
renamed Memorial High School. The PAISD built a new high School on 9thAve
and the students moved from the stadium road school to the new High
School on 9thAve
thereby leavingthe former Memorial School (TJ)
building vacant. The building was renovated and the asbestos
removed. The PAISDdecided
to relocate the Edison Middle School Students from the Old TJ High
School (Edison) on 12thto
the old “new ”TJ high school (now vacant) on Stadium Road. They
renamed the school building “Thomas Jefferson Middle School” and
recently demolition of the Old TJ High School (Edison Middle School)
began and is still on going. See photos below.

DeQueen Elem. was torn down and rebuilt.
Robert E. Lee Elem. was torn down and rebuilt at a new location
Franklin Elem. is scheduled for demolition
The two annexes on Woodrow Wilson have been torn down.
