I think this section should be called I DON"T REMEMBER WHEN instead!! Maybe someone out there can help me. I am racking my brain to try to remember the name of the other first grade teachers at Lee Elementary. Mine was Miss Garren. I think there was another one named Ms. Boynton or Boyington. Who was the third grade teacher that folks like Clifford Antone, Sally Fitch, Terry Skaro, and Nancy Ippolito had? Was there a fourth grade class? PLEASE HELP ME!!

It was really great that you were able to include an update from Mr. Rowland in the UPDATE. I had him both for Home Room and for American History class, and he a great teacher who could always maintain your interest in the subject through his animation and funny style. Being a part of Rowland's Maifia was a lot of fun.

I remember when I came to TJ in the middle of my senior year. I had moved from Houston to Port Arthur. I didn't know anyone. I had everything setup for me to graduate from Milby High School in Houston where my step-father had graduated from. Anyway, I was in English class with Gary Hammond. He was a big football star at the time and a very nice person. I could not find the footnotes for the book we were reading so he loaned me his. He was one of the kindest people I had met at school. I will never forget the kindness he showed me. In fact, I wrote and told him that not long after you had the website set up. So, thank you for letting me tell Gary how much his kindness meant to me all those years ago.

Glenn McGee was always so much fun ... He and Bobby Gaspard (his cousin) were always giggling about something! I dated B. Gaspard (and his 19?? Chevy) ... I think in the 10th Grade ... I don't know how these guys remember all the details! I only remember bits and pieces!
I remember walking to class and hoping I wouldn't be late. I remember trying to figure out how to get past the chemistry teacher (Ms Butler) in the hallway w/o getting caught!
Not sure if you want to repeat this one ... I remember going to the school dances and out in the courtyard and wondering where all of the serious couples went??? ... I was a slow one ...!!
I remember the cheer leaders always having the good really good boyfriends! The silly things we remember ... You know ... I didn't even know about smoking until I was a senior ... or I guess it never had a real impact on me (until later) ... and I understand there were drugs, too!
I remember Bobby Gaspard was so cute. he used to talk to me like one of the Beatles! I was sooo easily impressed!

I really wonder if Pat Patrick remembers the balloon story. Pat and I went into the bathroom at Woodrow Wilson, we filled up water balloons and if you remember the windows above the classroom doors, well I was hall monitor, I got Pat out of class, we filled the water balloons and then went down the halls and threw the water balloons into the classrooms and ran. Never got caught either.
Also Pat and I had science class right before lunch, at the very beginning of the year we told our teacher that we had lunch (cafeteria) duty and had to leave class early every day (my idea I'm sure) ha ha. Well Pat and I would get out of class, go to the restroom to make sure our hair and makeup we wore back then, looked good and then would head to the cafeteria and be the first in line every day. I was pretty shy back then, but NOT always mischievous, oops.
Just thought of another great, but very embarrassing moment in my life, which I will NEVER forget. Can't remember if it was 7th grade or 8th grade at Woodrow Wilson. I hade a huge crush on my Science teacher, Mr. Fletcher, oh he was so handsome. Well right before I had his class, I had Home Eco. When we cooked I would make sure I took Mr. Fletcher cookies or what ever we had made in class. Well one day after giving him whatever we had baked that day (IN FRONT OF THE CLASS) he said the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, oh my gosh, I know I turned the brightest red and wished that I could totally disappear, needless to say that was the LAST baked goodies Mr. Fletcher EVER got from me. I will never forget how embarrassed I was. I told my daughters about that, They thought it was sooo funny

My cousin Bobby Gaspard and I loved to go skiing at good old Cow Bayou. Once we took hot dates to go skiing. We dropped off our dates at a camp site and proceeded to impress them with our awesome skiing ability. We had made two or three circles in front of them when the waves began to be rough by other boats. I was driving (in boat alone) and Bob was skiing. All of the sudden the boat jumped out of the water like a bull bucking. I held on for dear life. Little did I know the boat was not through bucking, it bucked again. This time it threw me out of of the boat. I came up out of the water shouting to Bob: "There is no one in the boat!" Yes, the boat kept going with no one in the boat as Bob had the adventure of a life time skiing behind a boat with NO DRIVER! The good news was that the gas can had turned over and only burned the gas in the line and stopped before destroying anything. Wow! What a story. We hid this for many years from our parents. All was safe
